> eventi - SCTE Event 2009

The Western Balkan market is one of the most exciting emerging markets in Central Europe: more than 25 million closely linked inhabitants in 8 countries. The broadband market in many of these countries is rapidly moving forward as consolidation has started. These markets are supported by well known players, including local incumbents such as Slovenian Telecom.
Kosovo, one of the youngest nations in this region, offers one of the most open markets in terms of competition. Here, the telecom operator is competing head-to-head with the cable television operators to gain market share, leading to a high level of broadband penetration.
This market transparency, the fact that most people involved speak English and the central position of Kosovo within the Western Balkans, led the SCTE to select Kosovo as the location for its first Balkan Broadband Conference.
The Conference offers top-level key note speakers, exhibition floors where investors, operators, technicians and installers ‘Meet & Greet’ the international exhibitors, and special break-out training sessions for visitors eager to gain knowledge about technologies.
Balkan representative HMConsult LLC is coordinating this event, on behalf of the SCTE. Branded HMC-Euroskills, HMConsult LLC offers professional SCTE certified training in the Balkans.
Founded in 1945, the SCTE is a Learned Society and non-profit making organisation whose aim is to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals in the field.
SCTE training courses have gained wide acceptance as the standard for young technicians wishing to enter the field of cable telecommunications and for those wishing to advance their knowledge and career prospects. They are used in-house by a number of operating companies and SCTE engineers can be found working in a variety of international organisations.
